Chito Ryu Karate

Chito Ryu Karate was developed by the Okinawan Karate master, Dr. Tsuyoshi Chitose (1898-1984). He based his teachings on his extensive study of Okinawan Shorei-ryu and Shorin-ryu karate and his medical knowledge of physiology. He combined the strengths of these two systems and eliminated the training elements which were detrimental to the health and well-being of the practitioner.

Chito Ryu Karate is headed by its current Soke, Yasuhiro Chitose, who succeeded his father Dr. Chitose (1898-1984), the founder of Chito Ryu. The technical standards, curricula, ranking examinations and teaching certifications are the responsibility of the Soke, who is assisted in administration by the International Chito Ryu Karate Do Federation.

International Chito Ryu Karate-do Federation

The ICKF promotes the teaching and practice of Chito Ryu Karate throughout the world. The federation's headquarter is in Kumamoto, Japan. Many of our schools and members are in Japan, Canada, USA, Australia, Scotland, Ireland, Norway and Hong Kong.

Every 3 years, our members gather together in a competition known as the Soke Cup. In 2004, Soke Cup was held in Newcastle, Australia. While for 2007, Soke Cup will be held in Bergen, Norway. This competition is a great event to see all the top skilled competitors from other countries. But best of all, it is a great opportunity to make friends from all over the world.
